Pulmonary Fibrosis Research Articles

Pulmonary fibrosis is a disease of the lung which occurs when the lung tissue is damaged and traumatized. As pulmonary fibrosis deteriorates, the patient slowly becomes short of breath. The condition is termed idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis when a cause cannot be found. It is not possible to repair the lung damage caused by pulmonary fibrosis, but medication and therapies will sometimes help alleviate symptoms and improve the quality of life. A few patients are enrolling in a clinical trial which will try out new IPF treatments. While IPF research's long-term purpose is to prevent and cure the disease, current studies also attempt to slow the progression of the disease, and extend the life expectancy of IPF patients.
