Potato Leafroll Virus
Potatoes are susceptible to a number of potato diseases, not to mention susceptible to insect attacks and natural desires.
Viruses limited to positive RNA infect potatoes and other members of the Solanaceae family. PLRV is a type of virus which is transmitted by aphids, especially green peach infestation, Myzus persicae. PLRV is one of the most important potato
viruses in the entire world, but is very destructive in countries with limited resources and management. This can be responsible for losses of individual crop yields in excess of 50%. Early
infection of potato plants by PLRV occurs when plants are infected by aphids carrying the virus during the growing season (primary infection).
Infection also occurs when a
stock of seeds containing infected tubers is planted, and an infected potato
plant grows from it (secondary infection). This virus, unlike some other potato
plant diseases, takes time to be obtained (a few minutes to several hours) and is processed through its body before becoming a disease vector.
