The most common air pollution-related diseases include ischemic heart disease , stroke, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease ( COPD), lung cancer, and childhood acute lower respiratory infections. Short-term air pollution exposure can irritate the eyes, nose , and throat, causing upper respiratory infections, headaches , nausea, and allergic reactions; Long-term exposures can lead to chronic respiratory disease, heart disease and lung cancer."
