Paget-Disease Peer-review Journals

Paget's bone disease (commonly known as Paget 's disease or, traditionally, osteitis deformans) is a condition that includes one or more bones cellular remodeling and deformity. At the microscopic level the affected bones show signs of dysregulated bone remodeling, specifically excessive bone breakdown and subsequent disorganization of new bone formation. These structural changes cause the bone to break, which can lead to associated joint deformation, discomfort, fracture or arthritis. The exact cause is unclear since leading hypotheses suggest causes that are both hereditary and acquired. Paget 's disease can affect the body 's multiple bones but is not spreading from bone to bone. Paget's disease affects between 1.5 and 8.0 percent of the population, which is most prevalent among those of British descent. It is predominantly diagnosed in the elderly and is rare in people under 55.
