Osteosarcoma Research Articles

Osteosarcoma is a form of cancer which origin in the bone. The cancer cells in these cells are similar to the original cells that help to make new tissue. Most osteosarcomas occur in children and adults. Although Osteosarcoma can occur at any time, most young people are affected. The cancer cells in these tumors look like early forms of bone cells that normally help create new bone tissue, but the bone tissue in an osteosarcoma is not as strong as that of normal bones. Osteosarcoma is the most common form of deadly musculoskeletal cancer causing patients to die of pulmonary metastatic disease. Most osteosarcomas appear as solitary lesions in the fastest growing areas of children's long bones. That happens when cells that grow new bones form cancerous tumours.
