Oral And Maxillofacial Surgery
Oral and maxillofacial
surgery focuses on treating problems related to the hard and soft
tissues of the face, mouth, jaws, unintentional facial and jaw deformities, jaw
tumors and cysts, head and neck cancer, skin cancer, and
trauma surgery and some perform
dental implants and wisdom tooth extractions, ranging from the removal of teeth to the correction of facial trauma. Surgeons perform complex treatments that may require deeper levels of
sedation or invasive procedures, such as corrective jaw correction for unintentional bite, pulling out of compressed wisdom teeth, lip surgery, and
surgery for traumatic dental injury.
Surgery can usually be performed inside your mouth, so no facial scars appear on your chin, jaw or around your mouth. However, small cuts are sometimes required outside the mouth. Your surgeon makes jaw bones and puts them in the correct position.
