Mind Body Link News Journals

Brain and body continuously give each other messages. Such signals cause the brain and body to make changes and improvements to how they function. That means the thoughts and emotions can affect the body and the physical effects. The 'Fight-Flight' mechanism is an example of the near relationship between mind and body. This alarm system was developed to keep us safe from danger. Such physical effects arise from the release of stress hormones, such as cortisol and adrenaline, into the body. Some of the systems in the body are more affected by the link between the mind and the body than others. Most people may at some stage in their lives have undergone changes in these body systems as a reaction to stress or excitement. The digestive system, skin, heart and respiration rate, pain intensity and tiredness are usually affected.
