Microemulsion Research Articles

Microemulsions are transparent, stable, isotropic mixtures of oil, water and surfactant, often in combination with a co-surfactant. Microemulsions act as possible drug transport systems for oral, topical and parenteral administration. The preparation of a pharmaceutically acceptable dosage form requires a clear understanding of the structure of the microemulsion, the behavior of the phases, the factors which lead to its thermodynamic stability and the possible uses and limitations of the microemulsion system.
