Metabolomics is the discovery and quantifications of thee metabolome of a biological system at particular point in time. The two techniques used in metabolome profiling are NMR spectroscopy and mass spectroscopy. The common method to identify the metbolome is mass spectroscopy and the more recent and lesser used technique is nuclear magnetic resonance NMR spectroscopy. The NMR method has a significant advantage that it does not damage the samples and sample preparation is easier. Researchers can use the finding from NMR method to develop diagnostic techniques for new disease and test new drugs. The research about metabolome is at its early stages and researchers are making the method more accessible for study.
