Medical Microbiology

 The great subsection of microbiology which is applied to medicine that is concerned with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases is known as Medical microbiology. Additional to this this field also studies various clinical applications of microbes for the improvement and betterment of the health systems. Infectious diseases are generally caused by four kinds of microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi, parasites and viruses, and one type of infectious protein called prion. The exertion of a medical microbiologist is to study the characteristics of pathogens, their modes of transmission, mechanisms of infection and growth. With the use of this clues and information a treatment options can be devised.
