species on Earth, including plants, animals, bacteria, and fungi. While Earth’s biodiversity is so rich that a lot of species have yet to be discovered, many
species are being threatened with extinction thanks to human activities, putting the Earth’s magnificent biodiversity at risk. More properly, biodiversity is encompassed of several levels, starting with genes, then individual species, then communities of creatures and ultimately whole ecosystems, like forests or coral reefs, where life interplays with the physical environment.
