Health Informatics Applications

Health informatics (also called health care informatics, healthcare informatics, medical informatics, nursing informatics, clinical informatics, or biomedical informatics) is information engineering applied to the sector of health care, essentially the management and use of patient health care information. Computational health informatics may be a branch of computing that deals specifically with computational techniques that are relevant in health care. Computational health informatics is additionally a branch of health informatics, but is orthogonal to much of the work happening in health informatics because computer scientists' interest is especially in understanding fundamental properties of computation. Health informatics, on the opposite hand, is primarily concerned with understanding fundamental properties of drugs that leave the intervention of computers. The health domain provides a particularly big variety of problems which will be tackled using computational techniques, and computer scientists are trying to form a difference in medicine by studying the underlying principles of computing which will leave meaningful (to medicine) algorithms and systems to be developed. Thus, computer scientists working in computational health informatics and health scientists working in medical health informatics combine to develop subsequent generation of health care technologies.
