Cupping Therapy

Cupping therapy is a type of alternative medicine, in which the application of heated cups produces a local suction on the skin. Their practice exists mainly in Asia, but also in Eastern Europe , the Middle East and Latin America. Cupping was characterized as pseudoscience and as quackery in its practice. Cupping practitioners tend to use cupping therapy with a wide variety of medical conditions including fevers, chronic low back pain, decreased appetite, indigestion, high blood pressure, acne, atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, anemia, stroke recovery, nasal inflammation, miscarriage, and cramping during the menstrual cycle. Despite the numerous ailments for which practitioners believe cupping therapy is useful, insufficient evidence exists that it has any health benefits and there are some hazards of damage , particularly from wet cupping and fire cupping.
