Climatologists learn both the description of climates as local, territorial or global and the normal or human-induced aspects that cause climates to change. Climatology recognizes the past and can help forecast future climate change. Phenomena of dermatological interest introduce the atmospheric boundary layer, circulation methods, heat transfer, synergies between the atmosphere and the oceans and land surface and the chemical and physical formation of the atmosphere. A further sophisticated way of forming a prediction, the analog system recognizes an event which is concluded to be mimicked by an upcoming event. What makes it a complex facility to use is that there is hardly a perfect analog for an event in the future. A deviation on this theme is practiced in medium range forecasting, which is known as reconnections, when systems in other locations are used to help pin down the location of a system within the enveloping regime. The Geography department has a strong climatology programme covering all scales. It has a emphasis on the atmospheric physical phenomenon, especially micro-, local and meso-scale aspects, but it also maintains interests in synoptic and global climates. Special interest has centered on micro-, topo-, urban and pollutionclimatology. For example, there are ongoing studies on thermal microclimates, breeze and mountain wind systems.
