 In Cancer, the most commonly mutated gene is p53, or TP53. More than 50 per cent of cancers involve a p53 gene that is missing or damaged. Most mutations to the p53 gene are acquired. Germline p53 mutations are rare but there is a higher risk for patients carrying them to develop many different types of cancer. These turn a healthy cell into a cancerous cell. Mutations in these genes are not known to be inherited. Two common oncogenes are: HER2, a specialized protein that controls cancer growth and spread. It is found in some cancer cells. For example, breast and ovarian cancer cells. The RAS family of genes, which makes proteins involved in cell communication pathways, cell growth, and cell death. The open access journal would provide platform and empower scholars, students, engineers and professionals to share their technical and academic expertise in all fields in Cancer.
