Bone Marrow Transplantation And Peripheral Blood Stem Cell Transplantation Scholarly Journal

Bone marrow transplantation and transplantation of peripheral blood stem cells are procedures that replace stem cells that have been killed by high doses of chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy. The patient receives the harvested stem cells after being treated with high-dose anticancer drugs and/or radiation, which travel to the bone marrow and start producing new blood cells. A mini-transplant uses smaller, less toxic chemotherapy and/or radiation doses to prepare the patient for transplantation. A transplant involves two sequential courses in high-dose chemotherapy and stem cell transplantation. The journal Scholarly is a peer-reviewed journal publishing scholarships relating to a particular academic discipline.
