Biopharmaceutics Applications_
Biopharmaceutics is a major branch of
pharmaceutical sciences that relates between the physicochemical properties of a drug in dosage form and the pharmacology, toxicology, or clinical response observed after its administration/Intake. Biopharmaceutics examines the interrelationship in between the physical/chemical properties of the drug, their dosage form (drug product) in which the drug is given or prescribed, and the route of
administration on the rate and extent of systemic drug absorption.Drug efficacy and safety are dependent on the dosing recommendation. The optimal dosage & dosing intervals to the patient will be quite different for various drugs. The term itself expands this field into the science of preparing, using, and administering
drugs to living organisms or tissues. Inherent in the concept of biopharmaceutics as discussed here is the interdependence of biological aspects of the living organism (the patient) and the physical–chemical principles that govern the preparation and behavior of the medicinal agent or drug product. Moreover, for a single drug, the optimal dosage can be differ widely among the patients.Biopharmaceutics examines the interrelationship of the physical or chemical properties of a drug, its dosage form in which the it is given and the route of
administration on the rate & extent of systemic drug absorption.
