Automation Technologies For Safety
With the development of automation and IT systems with the goal of improving healthcare outcomes, other problems have arisen in terms of our ability to use and use technology in the patient care arena safely. Over the last 30 to 40 years, scientific and technical developments have occurred not only in drug products themselves but also in relation to the automation of medical equipment, which may affect each step of this cycle (prescription / ordering, transcryption, preparation / dispensing and administration). Bates et al. estimated that during ordering (56 percent) and administption (34 percent) phases, the majority of the adverse medicines occurred, and millions of dollars were spent designing automated systems to overcome human error propensity. We understand, though, little more than over a decade ago how to circumvent
health errors. In order to better understand the system and why errors occur, Effects Analysis (FMEA) was used in the healthcare environment. More specifically, these instruments are implemented when a mistake has been identified and severe consequences will result.
