Alternative Jet Fuels
Jet fuel, aviation turbine fuel, or avtur, may be a sort of aviation
fuel designed to be used in aircraft powered by gas-turbine engines. It is colorless to straw-colored in appearance. Jet
fuel is a clear to straw-colored fuel, based on either an unleaded kerosene, or a naphtha-kerosene blend. Similar to diesel oil , it are often utilized in either compression ignition engines or turbine engines. Jet fuels are typically made by blending and refining various petroleum petroleum distillation products like naphtha, gasoline, or kerosene so as to satisfy specific military or commercial specifications. The octane number of jet
fuel is far lower, around 15 – this is often far more like automotive diesel and thus far more immune to detonating thanks to sparks or compression. Jet
fuel is extremely almost like diesel oil , and in some cases, could also be burned in diesel engines. ... A diesel can also potentially be more environmentally friendly and fuel-efficient than an avgas engine. However, only a few diesel aircraft engines are certified by aviation authorities. Jet
fuel is slightly heavier than diesel so does put extra strain on the
fuel pump, but it does work. So if you set jet
fuel into a diesel car, it should be ready to run, but without adding a lubricant to the fuel, it'll cause future damage.
