Biography

Bio-statistician, Lecturer in Statistics in the University of the West of Scotland, Research Groups: BREATH (COPD) , Bariatric and Metabolic Department (University Hospital Ayr), Sport Science (UWS) Having a degree in Statistics (BSc honours 2.1) and MSc in Bio-statistics in 2007 from Tehran University of Medical Science, I completed a degree in MRES working on 'Modelling and predicting patient recruitment in multi-centre clinical trials' in the University of Glasgow in September 2011. I then started my PhD study in October 2011, funded by the University of Strathclyde and MASTS, working within the Marine Population-modelling Group in the University of Strathclyde. I developed a new length-based model in fisheries population dynamics using survey data from International Bottom Trawl Survey (IBTS) and total landed biomass from commercial landings. I have worked in the University of Glasgow in Institute of Health and wellbeing and the Robertson Centre for Biostatistics working with industrial organizations as well as academia. I joined the University of the West of Scotland (UWS) on 1st March 2017. Some of my responsibilities in UWS include teaching Statistics courses to students in all levels from Bachelor degree up to MSc levels, providing statistical and analytical support to student and staff, running Statistical software training workshops, designing and developing programmes, modules and course materials, post-graduate supervision, conducting high quality research and collaborations (BREATH, Bariatric, Sport Science, Mathematics), STEM and public engagements. I am the affiliate Statistician in the multi-centre research study funded by EU INTERREG to help address the cause, treatment and potential prevention of COPD along with BREATH (Border and Regions Airway Training Hub) project, which requires working with big NHS data, advanced programing and analysis. I also have the pleasure of collaborating with the Bariatric & Metabolic Research Team in the University Hospital Ayr in developing public health for patients with high BMI and metabolic problems. My collaboration with sport scientist and life science team is strong and engaged in a number of research and analytical projects.
