The floating hip injury refers to a form of serious injury caused by high-energy trauma involving simultaneous fracture of the femur and ipsilateral pelvic bone or acetabulum. Such injuries are known to very rare and treatment guidelines have not been clearly established. A floating hip, i.e. combination of pelvic or acetabular fracture with ipsilateral femoral fracture is uncommon condition, but posing considerable problems such as how to manage each component of the injury and what are the treatment priorities. The aim of the case report is to share our experience with surgical treatment of traumatic floating hip where patient presented with fracture neck femur right side with acetabular floor fracture. Femoral head migrated through the acetabular floor defect into the pelvis and lying free floating in the pelvic cavity. No such case report has been reported in the literature till date and this is the first instance of floating hip with migration of free floating femoral head into the pelvic cavity.
