There are many treatment approaches, the purpose of all trauma-focused therapy is to incorporate the traumatic event in your life. Pharmacotherapy is the use of drugs to manage disruptive trauma reactions. Taking medication does not cause the person's trauma reactions and the pain evaporates. Medication can only help make the symptoms less intense and manageable. Exposure therapy has been found to reduce anxiety and depression, improve social adaptation, and organize trauma memory. Exposure therapy is a very effective treatment for post-traumatic stress. Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is based on the idea that one must correct and change wrong thoughts and increase one's knowledge and skills.
