Stem Cell Therapy Research Articles

Stem-cell therapy includes the use of stem cells to treat a disease or condition, or prevent it. Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation is the commonly established treatment for stem cells. This typically takes the form of a bone marrow transplant but the cells may also come from the blood of the umbilical cord. Research is underway to develop different sources for stem cells and to apply stem-cell treatments to neurodegenerative diseases and conditions such as diabetes and heart disease. With advances such as the capacity of scientists to separate and propagate embryonic stem cells, to build stem cells through somatic cell nuclear transfer, and their usage of methods to generate induced pluripotent stem cells, stem cell therapy became contentious. HSCT was used for treating patients with diseases including leukaemia and lymphoma.
