Review Articles On Pancreatic Surgery

Types of Pancreatic surgery includes Laparoscopy is often performed first to help assess the severity of the cancer, even whether it should be resected. The surgeon makes a few minor incisions (cuts) in the abdomen (belly) for this operation, and removes long , slender instruments. One of these has a small video camera at the end, so that the surgeon can see the pancreas and other organs inside the abdomen. Studies have shown that eliminating only part of a pancreatic cancer doesn't really help individuals to live longer, so potentially curative surgery is only performed if the surgeon believes all the cancer can be removed. Whipple procedure is the most common procedure for removing a cancer in the pancreatic head. During this operation, the surgeon removes the pancreatic head and also the pancreas body at times. Nearby organs are often cut, such as part of the small intestine, part of the bile duct, gallbladder, lymph nodes near the pancreas and even part of the uterus.
