Review Articles On Annular Pancreas

Annular pancreas is a unusual disorder in which a rim of pancreatic tissue parallel with the head of the pancreas covers the second half of the duodenum. This portion of the pancreas could limit the duodenum, preventing or impairing food flow to the rest of the intestines. It is typically associated with an abnormal embryological development, though it may develop in adult cases. It that result from the development of a bifid ventral pancreatic bud around the duodenum, where the portions of the bifid ventral bud unite with the dorsal bud, creating a pancreatic ring. It may also result if the ventral pancreatic bud does not fully rotate, so that it stays on the right or if the dorsal bud rotates in the wrong direction, so that the duodenum is surrounded by pancreatic tissue. Duodenum blockage occurs as an infection develops in the annular pancreas.
