Acute respiratory tract infection is an infection which will interfere with normal breathing. It can affect just your upper systema respiratory , which starts at your sinuses and ends at your vocal chords, or simply your lower systema respiratory. This infection is especially dangerous for youngsters, older adults, and other people with system disorders. During a respiratory exam, the doctor focuses on your breathing. They’re going to check for fluid and inflammation within the lungs by listening for abnormal sounds in your lungs once you breathe. Pulse oximetry, also referred to as pulse ox, can check what proportion oxygen gets into the lungs. A doctor can also take a swab from your nose or mouth, or ask you to cough up a sample of sputum (material coughed up from the lungs) to see for the sort of virus or bacteria causing the disease.
