Pulmonology Innovations

Digital health technology can in many cases be useful in helping to diagnose and treat chronic respiratory diseases. In the future , researchers will leverage the power of artificial intelligence to develop diagnostic algorithms that could change non-specialist healthcare professionals' ability to make an accurate diagnosis. Machine learning can be used to analyze breath sounds acquired from electronic stethoscopes or even smartphones, to help identify wheezes and crackles, to interpret PFT scores, or to analyze bronchoscopy images, and even X-rays and CT scans. Additionally, many companies have been trying to develop artificial intelligence tools to incorporate high-resolution CT scans with advanced Computational Fluid Dynamics ( CFD) tools to help pulmonologists visualize both lung structural and functional parameters, which can also assist the diagnostic process.
