This is the science of breath control, taken from Sanskrit words, prana means that the life force and ayama must be extended. This is the meaning of breath control. Five types of prana are responsible for various pranic activities in the body; these are Prana, Apana, Vyan, Udana & Samana. Of these, Prana and Apana are the most important. Prana flows upwards and Apana flows downwards. In the practice of pranayama, we achieve balance in the activities of these pranas, resulting in a healthy body and mind.
