Pain Palliative Care

The government's White Paper Our Health, Our Option, Our Opinion, National Institute of Clinical Excellence Guidelines, and the Department of Health End of Life Strategy highlighted end-of - life care as a national priority. It is one of twelve national Quality, Innovation , Productivity, and Prevention (QIPP) priorities. One indicator associated with a 'good death' is whether patients are being cared for in their place of choice, and die. But patients can receive palliative care at any time, whether it is terminal or not, at any stage of the illness. Instead of vigorous disease control, most initiatives concentrate on comfort. That when you can seek palliative care, there are no time limits, this helps to fill the void for patients who want and need support at any level of the illness, whether terminal or chronic.
