Osteotomy is a surgical operation in which the bone is cut either to reduce the length or increase the length, or the alignment of the bone can be changed. This operation is carried out to correct the hallux valgus. The other reason for this surgical procedure is to straighten the crooked bone which is the result of fractured, coxa varum, genu varum, and genu valgum. This surgery is performed to reduce pain in arthritis. In older patients, it leads to the replacement of joints. The recovery from this surgery can take excess time. The patients are accessed with the walking stick, bedpans, specialized walkers, and wheelchairs.
