Orthopedic Anesthesia Journals

Before and during your surgery, anesthesia is administered so you do not feel any pain. Some anaesthetics induce exhaustion, while others induce somnolence and/or numbness. A Regional Anesthetic is a form of anesthesia in which the use of a local anesthetic makes a part of the body numb. This technique is often called a blockage to the nerves. Because our orthopedic surgeons often operate on the arm or leg of some patients, Nerve blocks are also a suggested form of surgical anesthetic in the Raleigh Orthopedic Surgery Centre. A major advantage of nerve blocks for outpatient orthopedic surgery is that they offer excellent pain relief to the patient for several hours after the surgery. Nerve blocks may also minimize the amount of conventional medications for narcotic pain that a patient will need to have during or after surgery.
