Nitrogen Fixations

Nitrogen fixation is the normal or industrial procedure that causes free nitrogen, which is a comparatively the inert gas abundant in air to combine chemically with other elements to form more reactive nitrogen complexes such as ammonia, nitrates or nitrites. Under normal conditions, nitrogen does not retort with other elements. Yet nitrogenous composites are found in all productive and fertile soils, in all living things, in many foodstuffs, in coal, and in such obviously happening elements as sodium nitrate and ammonia. Nitrogen is also found as one of the chemical components of DNA in the nucleus of every living cell.
