The mind-body or brain-body relationship is the relationship between a person's thoughts, feelings, and behaviour and physical symptoms. The mind-body relationship takes place at a physical and chemical level. The
brain is the hardware through which you can experience a mental state known as "the mind". This concept of "mind" includes mental states, including thoughts, beliefs, attitudes, and emotions. Different mental states can affect biological functions positively or negatively. This happens because the nerves,
hormones and the
immune system have the same chemical language that allows constant communication between mind and body through messenger substances such as
hormones and neurotransmitters. The
brain and body are connected by nerve pathways, which consist of neurotransmitters, hormones, and chemicals. These pathways transmit signals between the body and
brain to control our daily functions, from breathing, digestion, and pain to movement, thinking, and feeling. Thoughts and emotions also carry vibrations that affect your overall biochemical, cellular and physiological conditions. At the physical level, the body consists of
atoms and water that moves constantly.
