 Maternal health refers to the health of a woman during the period of her pregnancy, childbirth and the postnatal period. Each stage should be a positive experience, ensuring women and her babies reach their full potential for health and their well-being. The most common direct causes for  maternal injury and death are excessive loss of  blood, infection, high blood pressure(BP), unsafe abortion and obstructed labour as well as indirect causes like anemia, malaria, and heart disease. Most maternal deaths are preventable with timely management by a skilled health professional working in a supportive environment.It is critical to expand efforts reducing the maternal injury & disability to promote the health and well-being.Every pregnancy and birth is unique and  Addressing inequalities that affect the health outcomes, especially sexual & reproductive health ,rights and gender is the fundamental to ensuring all women have the access to respectful and high-quality maternity care.
