Lupus Nephritis Researches

In patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), lupus nephritis is an inflammatory kidney disease (glomerulonephritis) that develops. The immune system is not properly regulated in patients with SLE, and attacks the body's own tissues, causing damage to the kidneys and other organs. A major research area for the Lupus Research Alliance understands what causes lupus nephritis, and how to improve treatment. In 2018, two of our grants for Target Identification in Lupus (TIL), two Novel Research Grants (NRG) and one Distinguished Innovator Award (DIA) concentrate on this severe problem affecting up to 50 percent of people with lupus.
