Types of Irrigation
2 main forms of irrigation are: • Flow Irrigation: • Flow irrigation is that style of within which flow of water to crop field from the supply takes place thanks to element of gravity force . This flow Irrigation is also more classified into: • Perennial Irrigation: • during this style of supply of water is from a watercourse that is perennial. A weir or barrage is built across this watercourse. generally dam is also made to create a reservoir upstream. Main canal with a regulator is built wherever one or each banks offer water to the crop field. this sort is reliable as water is accessible throughout the entire amount of the year. Inundation or flood irrigation • it's that style of irrigation within which no management structures like weir, barrage, regulator, etc square measure made. throughout time of year, water level within the watercourse rises and canal bed level is unbroken below High Flood Level (HFL) of the watercourse. The portion of water on top of the canal bed is pleased to inundate the crop field. • This inundation water is drained off or allowed to soak up within the crop field before planting the crop. the entire system depends on the water level within the watercourse. though no such expenditure is concerned during this system, over-irrigation could harm the crops. Therefore, this technique isn't standard.
