Epiglottis Scientific Journals

The epiglottis is a leaf-shaped flap in the throat that prevents food from entering the windpipe and the lungs. It stands open during breathing, allowing air into the larynx. During swallowing, it closes to prevent aspiration of food into the lungs, forcing the swallowed liquids or food to go along the esophagus toward the stomach instead. It is thus the valve that diverts passage to either the trachea or the esophagus. The epiglottis is prerequisite for the throat. Vocal cord is hold by larynx area. Human speech is produce and grows by the help of glottis. This is a present in base of the tongue and in smooth elastic tendon protect with mucous membrane. Epiglottis is leaf and guard shape at the entrance of the glottis. Scientific journal is a periodical publication intended to further progress of science, usually by reporting novel research.
