DNA Forensic Research

DNA, is an organic polymer which is found within every cell of each organism. The polymer is composed of three specific parts are the phosphate backbone, the deoxyribose sugar, and the nitrogenous base.Initially, the technique used for this analysis was based on Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphisms (RFLP). In this technique, a restriction endonuclease. which is an enzyme that cuts DNA at a selected sequence, is employed to interrupt DNA into small pieces. A new forensic DNA approach is broadly applied is mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) sequencing. Mitochondria are structures within cells that contain DNA that is distinct from the DNA in the nucleus. Mitochondrial sequencing is employed extensively in FBI labs, also as state and personal crime labs.
