Criminal law is only one of the devices by which regulated societies defend the security of individual significance and protect the survival of the group. There are, in extension, the standards of conduct inspired by family, school, and religion; the rules of the office and factory; the management of civil life required by common police powers; and the approvals available through the actions. The perception between criminal law and tort law is difficult to draw with real accuracy, but normal one may say that a tort is a private loss whereas a crime is accepted as an offense against the public, although the actual victim may be an individual. In modern times more rationalistic and practical views have managed. With the advancement of the social sciences, there happened new concepts, such as those of the protection of the public and the reform of tender. Criminal law broadly refers to federal and state laws that make sure behavior illegal and punishable by imprisonment and/or fines. Our system is essentially comprised of two differing types of cases: civil and criminal. Civil cases are disputes between people regarding the legal duties and responsibilities they owe one another . Criminal cases, meanwhile, are charges pursued by prosecutors for violations of criminal statutes.
