Cosmology is the study of the Universe and its components, its formation, its evolution and its future. Before recorded history, modern cosmology developed from concepts. Ancient man asked questions like "What's going on around me?" which then became "How's the Universe working?," the key question cosmology asks. Modern cosmology is on the boundary between science and philosophy, similar to philosophy as it raises basic questions about the cosmos, similar to science because it searches for answers by observation and logical interpretation in the context of scientific understanding. Thus, cosmology theories operate with a tension between a philosophical urge for simplicity and a desire to include all of the features of the Universe versus the total complexity of all of it.
