Clinical-trials-Scientific-Journals
Clinical trials are a form of medical research that follows a defined protocol carefully developed to answer a specific question about patient care. Clinical trials are used to test
cancer therapies,
cardiovascular disease treatments, the safety and effectiveness of new
drugs and a number of other conditions. Clinical trials may test the effectiveness of new drug therapies, new drug combinations, surgical procedures, or behavioral and lifestyle modifications. Clinical trials are divided into stages, and each phase has a different function throughout the experiment. The protocol describing the type of individuals involved in the trial is used for every clinical study; it outlines the exact timelines for the tests, procedures, medications and/or dosages involved; and it specifies the duration of the study. Each trial contains specific criteria for inclusion and exclusion in order to identify the exact patient populations involved. Criteria for inclusion may be based on age , gender, underlying disease,
history of
health or other factors. Double-blind tests offer the benefit of making unbiased observations on patient progress and treatment effectiveness by the
health care team and the patient. Clinical trials can be supported and financed by government departments, corporations, clinics, doctors,
businesses of pharmaceutical or biotechnology, advocacy organizations, or other organisations.
Health research is a kind of study of
health or scientific problems, using human subjects. Not all clinical trials necessarily require medical procedures or experimental therapies. Clinical research can include observational studies in which people are followed to determine
health outcomes over a period of time. Clinical research may also be used to determine the utility or safety of a new diagnostic procedure or treatment with a drug.
