 Chemotherapy is a violent form of chemical medication treatment meant to terminates rapidly growing cells in the body. It’s typically used to treat cancer, as cancer cells grow and divide faster than other cells. A doctor specialized in cancer treatment is known as an oncologist. Chemotherapy is often used in combination with other therapies, such as surgery, radiation, or hormone therapy and depends on the stage and type of cancer, overall health, previous cancer treatments, location of the cancer cells and personal treatment procedures. It’s considered a systemic treatment and it affects the entire body. Though chemotherapy has been demonstrated to efficiently attack cancer cells but it can also cause serious side effects which severely impacts the quality of life.
