Cell Therapy Journals
The human body contains more than 200 different types of specialized cells, like muscle , bone or
brain cells. These
cells perform specific functions, necessary for an organism 's health, within the body. Injury, illness, or ageing can result in the body losing specialized cells. Such a loss is irreversible in many cases, meaning that healthy ones can no longer replenish the diseased or lost cells. Cell therapy is aimed at introducing new , healthy
cells into the body of a patient, replacing those that are ill or missing. A challenge for this type of therapy is having sufficient
cells to transplant into a patient. This is because specialized cells, like
brain cells, are hard to get from the human body. Specialized
cells also typically have limited ability to multiply, making it difficult for certain cell therapies to produce enough number of
cells required. Some of these problems can be solved using stem cells.
