Broad Pregnancy Ligament
The broad ligament is a peritoneal fold that connects the uterus, fallopian tubes, and
ovaries to the pelvis. Broad ligament pregnancy may be additionally referred to as inter ligamentous pregnancy is a rare sort of extrauterine pregnancy . it's one sort of secondary
ectopic pregnancy . Although ultrasonography is typically helpful in making the diagnosis but it's mostly established during
laparotomy. Broad ligament pregnancy usually results from rupture of
ectopic pregnancy through the tubal serosa and therefore the mesosalpinx, with secondary implantation of trophoblast between the leaves of broad ligament. Incidence of
broad ligament pregnancy is accounted as 1 in 300 ectopic pregnancies. The prognosis is poor with the danger of dying from an
ectopic pregnancy is 7.7 times above from other sorts of extrauterine pregnancy and sometimes results from a delay in diagnosis. The pregnancy following tubal rupture growing within the broad ligament is named Secondary Broad ligament Pregnancy. Primary broad ligament
ectopic pregnancy is rare event when pregnancy occurs within the broad ligament itself. The complications of pregnancy within the broad ligament include abdominal pain, rupture of the gestational sac with hemorrhage into the peritoneal cavity, vaginal bleeding, an abnormal lie, placental insufficiency and pseudo labour followed by foetal death. The management of pregnancy in broad ligament is surgical removal of foetus and placenta.
