Transfusion medicine involves a blood transfusion, i.e. transfusion of blood or blood products from one individual (donor) into the bloodstream (recipient) of an alternate individual. Doctors affirmed in Transfusion Medicine are trained in the selection and
administration of blood products, immunohematology, apheresis,
stem cell collection, coagulation, and cell therapy. Transfusion medicine is a multidisciplinary region that has been identified with the proper use of blood and its components in treating human diseases. Physicians from a broad variety of backgrounds are trained in transfusion medicine, including anatomy, hematology, anesthesiology, and paediatry.
