Archeology is the study of human activity through the restoration and analysis of material culture. Archaeological records consist of artifacts, architecture, biofacts or ecofacts and cultural landscapes. Archeology can be seen as a
social science and a branch of the humanities. In Europe it is often seen as a discipline in its own right or as a sub-field of another discipline, whereas in North America archeology is a sub-field of anthropology. Archaeologists have studied prehistoric and human
history from the development of the first stone tool at Lomequi in East Africa 3.3 million years ago to the past few decades. Archeology is different from paleontology, which examines fossil remains. It's very important to get to know prehistoric societies that might not have written records. Prehistory includes more than 99% of the human past, from Paleolithic to the emergence of literacy in societies throughout the world. Archeology pursues various goals, from understanding cultural
history to reconstructing past life paths to documenting and explaining changes in human society from time to time. There are several types of archeology: prehistoric, historical, classical, and underwater archeology.
