 Angiology is the study of blood vessels and lymphatics. It is the medical specialty which studies the diseases of the circulatory system and of the lymphatic system, i.e., arteries, veins and lymphatic vessels, and its diseases. In the UK, this field is more often termed angiology, and in the United States the term vascular medicine is more frequent.T. he angiologist knows about the structure and characteristics of the various blood vessels in the body. He ir she is a specialist in all the changes that can occur in these vessels. It's area of expertise includes,disorders such as the narrowing or closure, dilation and inflammation of the vessels Vascular medicine or angiology is the medical specialty concerned with the functioning and diseases of the lymphatic and circulatory systems, which include veins, arteries and small blood vessels (microcirculation). A vascular specialist is also sometimes referred to as an angiologist. As the circulatory system connects all organs, vascular medicine lies at the crossroads of many other fields , including: Vascular surgery, Interventional radiology, Internal medicine, Cardiology, Neurology, Dermatology, Nephrology and diabetology. Angiology is a highly technical specialty and requires access to state-of-the-art equipment, particularly in imaging. The patient should therefore seek the advice of their GP or pharmacist to ensure the angiologist has the correct means at their disposal.
