Adolescent Trauma

 Adolescent trauma results from experiencing or witnessing or violence. Some adolescents can experience brain damage as a result. Also, many will develop drug or alcohol addiction in an attempt to cope. Trauma can be acute or chronic, but both can be devastating to the health of the adolescent development. Trauma can be just about any disturbing event. Chronic trauma usually causes drug use to deal with the negative thoughts. As a result, teens discover that drugs lower their feelings of fear, sadness and shame. According to research, brain development in teens can be adversely affected after trauma. Motor control, cognitive ability, sleep, memory, and impulse control are all areas of the brain that can affect trauma. Treatment for teens can help cure.
