Patient-level data: a paradigm shift in clinical trial transparency?

Published clinical trials have long formed the backbone of evidence-based medicine. The rigorous peer review process prior to publication of clinical trials supposedly ensures accurate and honest reporting of clinical outcomes. Regrettably, this is not always the case. Final publications often represent a distorted version of the trial with inaccurate descriptions of the design, conduct and results.
