Pre-eclampsia is a maternal condition marked by the initiation of elevated blood pressure and sometimes a large volume of protein in the urine. When this occurs, the disease starts after 20 weeks of pregnancy. Pre-eclampsia typically occurs after 20 weeks of pregnancy in a woman whose blood pressure was fine. This will also be treated with oral or IV treatment before the baby is stable enough to be released. It also includes balancing the consequences of early birth against the consequences of maintaining pre-eclampsia symptoms. It can increases the chance of poor outcomes for both the mother and also the baby. If left untreated, it should lead to seizures at which point it's called eclampsia.
